Miller, a 2015 South Adams High School graduate, was one of a dozen Indiana Tech wrestlers to earn regional championships Saturday, helping the NAIA No. 2 Warriors repeat as regional champions in the NAIA Midwest Regional Qualifiers in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
After receiving a bye in the opening round of his 125-pound weight class, Miller defeated Lourdes University’s Ray Porter by major decision, 14-6. He followed by pinning Lindenwood’s Jaln Gomillia in 58 seconds, and earned yet another major decision in the championship match, defeating Lyon’s Dustin Miller by a 17-6 score.
Miller, who finished second in the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals as a senior, improved to 15-3 on the year, as the Warriors scored 224 points for a comfortable win over Williams Baptist.
The NAIA National Championships are March 3 and 4 in Topeka, Kansas.
Cady Farlow
South Adams – 2015
Scored 39 individual points for the host Purdue University women’s swim team Feb. 15 through Saturday in the Big Ten Championships.
The sophomore was eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 0.8 seconds. Indiana University’s Lilly King, a 2016 Olympic gold medalist, set her own B1G and pool record with a time of 56.3 seconds.
Farlow added a 12th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:12.43. King won that event as well in a new B1G and pool record of 2:04.03.
Farlow also was also 85th in the 50 freestyle in 24.36 seconds.
Kegan Comer
Jay County –- 2013
Led the resurgent NAIA Division II No. 15 University of St. Francis men’s basketball team to its opening round Crossroads League Tournament victory.
Comer shot 7-of-12 from the field and made three 3-pointers to score a game-high 18 points Wednesday as the Cougars topped Mount Vernon Nazarene. He also had five assists and a block as USF improved to 22-9.
The senior also had two points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal in Saturday’s 80-72 victory over third-ranked Bethel.
St. Francis, which has won six out of its last seven following a mid-season swoon, will play fifth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Saturday in the semifinal round of the Crossroads League Tournament.

Recorded his fourth double-double of the season Saturday in the NAIA DIvision II No. 22 Indiana Tech men’s basketball team’s 78-66 loss to 10th-ranked Davenport.
Schwieterman shot 50 percent from the field and hit six free throws to finish with 14 points for the Warriors (20-10). He also hauled in 10 rebounds and had one steal.
Indiana Tech plays tonight against Aquinas in the opening round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament.
Elijah Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2014
Scored in double figures in back-to-back games as the University of Findlay men’s basketball team extended its winning streak to six games.
Kahlig had 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting, shared the game-high of eight assists, grabbed two rebounds and had one steal as the Oilers defeated Tiffin 105-87 on Feb. 16.
He followed with a 15-point effort Saturday as the Oilers (21-5, 15-4 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) defeated Ashland 85-65. The former Indian was 4-for-7 from the field, including 2-of-4 from long range, and made all five of his free throws, while also adding two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Sophie Bader
Jay County – 2016
Helped an eighth-place relay for the Ball State University women’s swim team on Wednesday in the Mid-American Conference Championships at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Bader swam the first leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay in 1 minute, 53.72 seconds. She joined Amanda Kedzierski, Lauren Elston and Elizabeth Madison to finish with a time of 7:35.
The meet continues today through Saturday.

Also swam for the Ball State women’s swim team in the first day of the MAC Championships on Wednesday.
She swam the backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay in 26.12 seconds. She teamed with Amanda Kedzierski, Andrea Richter and Jessica Extine to place eighth in 1 minute, 42.12 seconds.
She was also eighth in the 50 backstroke in 26.12 seconds.
Abby Wendel
Jay County – 2016
Was one of 10 players to score for the University of Rio Grande women’s basketball team in its 63-44 victory over Carlow in the regular-season finale.
Wendel was 3-for-5 from the field and made one of her two free-throw attempts to finish with seven points. She also had one rebound and one steal.
The Red Storm (19-12) had their season come to a close with a 75-62 loss to IU Kokomo in the opening round of the River States Conference tournament on Wednesday. Stats were not available.
Wade Gelhaus

Helped the Saginaw Valley State University men’s basketball team to a 74-64 victory Saturday over Northwood.
Gelhaus started and totaled four points and five rebounds for the Cardinals (17-10). He had four points, four rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist Feb. 16 in SVSU’s 81-74 win over Lake Superior State.
Catherine Dunn
Jay County – 2015
Played for the Brescia University women’s basketball team in a season-ending 73-59 loss to IU-Southeast on Saturday in the opening round of the River States Conference tournament.
Dunn was 3-for-12 from the field to finish with seven points. She also had three rebounds and one steal.
The former Patriot averaged 9.9 points per game in her sophomore season, finished 33.4 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Zane Shreve
Jay County – 2014
Competed for the Miami University men’s track team on Friday at University of Findlay.
He placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.8 seconds. He improved three spots from his seed of 8.97 seconds.
Shreve was eighth in the long jump, with his best distance of 20 feet, 0.25 inches.
He also attempted pole vault, but was unable to clear the opening height of 11 feet, 3.5 inches.

Ran for the Butler University women’s track team on Saturday at the Orange and Blue Open hosted by Illinois.
The freshman was 12th in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 4.84 seconds.
Doshawn Franks of Northern Illinois wonthe race with her time of 58.01 seconds.

Competed for the Taylor University men’s track team in the Crossroads League Invitational Friday and Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan.
He was fourth in the shot put with a distance of 43 feet, 11.75 inches. He also placed seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 42 feet, 10.75 inches.
