TOWN OF REDKEY

ORDINANCE NO. 2017-3

An Ordinance Prohibiting the Use of Golf Carts, Motorized Bicycles, Motorized Scooters, Mopeds. ATVs, and Motorcycles on Public Sidewalks and Rights of Way.

WHEREAS, the Town of Redkey desires to prohibit the use of golf carts, motorized bicycles, motorized scooters, mopeds, ATVs. snowmobiles, go-karts. and motorcycles on the Town’s sidewalks, public walkways. and rights of way; and,

WHEREAS, the Town of Redkey recognizes the risk associated with the use of the above-mentioned vehicles on public sidewalks. walkways, and rights of way to pedestrians and persons using non-motorized bicycles and scooters on such sidewalks, walkways, and rights of way.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF REDKEY, INDIANA:

The use of golf carts, motorized bicycles, motorized scooters, mopeds, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and motorcycles on any public sidewalk, walkway, or right of way within the Town of Redkey shall be prohibited.

Any person found in violation of this Ordinance shall be fined as follows:

1. First offense: $50;

2. Second offense within one year: $100; and.

3. Third offense and each additional offense within one year: $250.

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
