Fort Recovery senior earns all-MAC honor
Five Tribe players named to all conference teams
Micaiah Cox is once again one of the best players in the conference.
Cox, a Fort Recovery High School senior, was named first team all-Midwest Athletic Conference this morning.
Three Indians earned second team honors, and one earned honorable mention.
Cox, who on Feb. 18 became the 16th player in Fort Recovery history to reach 1,000 career points, led the Indians to a 15-7 record and a 5-2 mark in MAC play. The forward averaged a team-high 16.9 points per game and 8.6 rebounds. Cox’s shooting percentage of 52.5 percent was tops on the team. He is the only FRHS player this season to attempt more than 100 free throws, and he shot 77.2 percent from the charity stripe.
Seniors Matt Bihn and Caleb Martin as well as sophomore Payton Jutte were named to the second team. Jutte’s 9.9 points per game is second to Cox, and Martin comes in at third with 8.9 points per game. Martin’s 5.3 rebounds per game is second on the team. Jutte leads the team with 23 made 3-pointers, three ahead of Bihn, who leads the team with a 46.5 percent shooting percentage from behind the arc.
Bihn averaged 8.5 points per game, and his 2.3 assists per game is second on the squad. He also leads the team with 61 steals.
Sophomore Ryan Braun (4.8 PPG, 3.8 RPG) was given honorable mention.
Fort Recovery, which received the No. 2 seed, opens Division IV Wapakoneta District play at 8 p.m. Friday against either Ada or New Bremen in Coldwater.
