Swimmers sweep Northside
Middle school boys get first win of the season while girls stay undefeated
The boys finally got their first win of the season.
The girls continued to march on.
Jay County’s middle school swim teams both earned wins over the Muncie Northside Titans on Monday at JCHS.
The boys won 207-84, snapping a three-meet losing streak. The girls moved to 4-0 with a 199-75 victory.
Juan Pablo Wiggins and Sammy Crump each won a pair of events for the boys. Wiggins placed first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 24.12 seconds, and won the 100 backstroke in 1:23.86.
Crump handled the freestyle sprints, winning the 50 freestyle in 30.01 seconds, and taking the 100 freestyle in 1:06.64.
Ben Nichols also picked up an individual victory in the 100 breaststroke with his time of 1:22.14.
Damian Hicks, Konner Sommers, Crump and Nichols combined to win the 200 medley relay in 2:26.4. Garrett Mann, Nico Minnich, Hicks and Wiggins won the 200 freestyle relay in 2:02.59.
Ashlyn Dow and Eliza Bader were both dual winners for the girls. Dow won the 200 freestyle (2:15.81) and 100 backstroke (1:09.53), while Bader won the 100 IM in 1:05.8 and 100 breaststroke (1:14.89).
Also picking up individual wins were Lillian Clemmons (50 freestyle – 27.54), Justice Murphy (diving – 82.7 points), Mara Bader (50 butterfly – 29.94) and Rieley Brewster (400 freestyle – 5:13.88).
Mara Bader, Eliza Bader, Dow and Clemmons combined to win the 200 medley relay in 2:01.68. Elayna Paro, Brewster, Clemmons and Dow joined to finish first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:56.09.
