East Jay boys sweep county rival West Jay

The Chiefs hosted their county rival Eagles on Tuesday.
The visitors went home with a tally in the loss column.
East Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams both picked up wins against West Jay. The Chief seventh graders won 26-19, and the eighth grade squad posted a 35-21 victory.
Adam Muhlenkamp scored 10 points to lead the EJMS seventh graders, which also got five points from Gavin Muhlenkamp, three each from Darrius Esparza, Crosby Heniser and Ethan Dirksen, and two from Gavin Myers.
West Jay stats were not provided.
Landon Grimes and Cameron Langenkamp each scored seven points to pace the seventh grade Chiefs. Griffin Mann tacked on six points, Brian Zhang tallied five points and Brody Auker had two points.
Logan Brown had a game-high 13 points to lead West Jay, which got four points from Lane Chapman and two each from Luke Haggard and Ashton Kuss.
East Jay’s seventh graders move to 8-0 (5-0 Allen County Athletic Conference), while the eighth grade team improves to 5-3 (4-1 ACAC). West Jay records were not available.
Chiefs top Driver
WINCHESTER — East Jay’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both defeated host Driver on Tuesday.
The Chief eighth graders won 34-11, while the seventh grade team held off Driver, 23-21.
Grace Saxman and Natalie Miles both scored eight points to lead the EJMS eighth graders (6-3). Ana Heath and Pacie Denney tallied six points each, while Aubrie Schwieterman and Madison Fouch scored four and two points respectively.
Rachel Muhlenkamp’s 10 points led the seventh grade Chiefs (5-4). Madison Dirksen chipped in five points and Chaley Muhlenkamp scored four points. Jayden Claytor and Heaven Hambrock notched two points each.
Tribe, Raiders split
RUSSIA, Ohio — Fort Recovery Middle School’s boys basketball teams split with the host Russia Raiders on Tuesday.
The Tribe eighth graders won 50-13, and the seventh graders fell 33-18.
Derek Jutte and Brian Bihn both scored a dozen points to lead the FRMS eighth graders. Clay Schmitz chipped in nine points, while Regan Martin added six points. Ryne Post also added five points.
Logan Homan led the Tribe seventh graders in the loss with five points. Marcus Gaerke scored four points, with Owen Wenning contributing two points.
Chiefs beat Indians
East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball teams both beat the Union City Indians on Tuesday.
The EJMS A team won 37-10, and the B team picked up a 17-16 win in the final seconds.
Renna Schwieterman led the A squad with 16 points, and Olivia Waters was close behind with 15 points. Kylie Cross added four points and Natasha Toland tallied two points.
Lydia Keihn and Cross had four points each for the B team, which also got three points from Haley Cumings and two from Toland. Madison Brunswick scored the game-winning bucket with 8.4 seconds left for her only points of the contest.
Delta downs Chiefs
MUNCIE — The East Jay sixth grade boys basketball teams both opened their seasons with a loss to the Delta Eagles on Tuesday.
The A team lost 32-22, and the B team fell 31-9.
Carter Link and Bennett Weitzel scored five points each to pace the A team, which got three points apiece from Josh Dowler and Matthew Fields. Blake Bogenschutz, Brady Davis and Peter Muhlenkamp had two points each.
Kolby Lewellen led the B team with three points. Conner McFarland, Caleb Darnell and Mitchell Brunswick tallied two points apiece.
