INDIANAPOLIS — Mackenzie Ring finished first on balance beam as the JC Flipsters gymnastics team competed in the Once Upon A Time Gymnastics Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Lawrence Central High School.
Ring, a 12-and-older Level 7 gymnast, scored 9.1 on the beam to finish first. She also placed fourth on uneven bars (8.75), earned an 8.7 on floor exercise and scored 8.95 on vault for a third-place all-around score of 35.5.
Karci Hopkins placed eighth in both vault (8.85) and beam (8.05) on her way to a 12th-place all-around score of 32.15 in the 10-and-11-year-old Level 3 competition. She added 7.9 on bars and 7.35 on floor exercise.
In the same age group, Makinsey Murphy placed 14th with her 31.65 all-around. She scored 8.5 on vault, 7.925 on bars, 7.625 on floor and 7.6 on beam.
Kami Fulford, a 12-and-older Level 3 gymnast, earned 8.525 on vault, 8.05 on floor, 7.9 on beam and 7.15 on bars for an all-around score of 31.625, which was 15th.
In the 8-year-old Level 3 competition, Katie Rowles and Calie Yates were 15th and 16th respectively in the all-around.
Rowles’s highest mark came on the vault (8.425), and she followed it with a 7.25 on bars, 7.475 on floor and 6.6 on beam to total 30.325.
Yates scored an 8.3 on vault, 6.95 on bars, 6.6 on floor and 6.15 on beam for her 28.05 all around mark.
Erin Ring also competed as a 10-and-11-year-old Level 4 gymnast. She earned 8.675 on floor, 7.75 on bars, 7.4 on bars and 6.95 on beam for an all-around score of 30.775.
The JC Flipsters’ home gym is JC Tumbling and Gymnastics in Portland.
