Backing accident
A Portland man and woman were involved in a minor vehicle accident Tuesday morning in the parking lot of East Jay Middle School, 225 Water St., Portland.
Jaime J. Wagner, 40, 515 W. 700 South, told Portland Police Department that she was slowly driving her 2005 Ford Mustang through the parking lot when it was struck by a 1997 Ford Ranger that was backing out of a parking space.
Richard D. Pagan, 43, 117 Dogwood Lane, Portland, told police he had his foot on the brake and that his Ranger was stationary when the vehicles collided.
Police attributed the cause of the accident to unsafe backing by Pagan.
Damage in the 10:31 a.m. accident was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Pole struck
A Portland woman struck a pole with her vehicle early Tuesday morning at MainSource Bank, 1511 N. Meridian St.
Helen W. Schwartz, 92, 400 E. Water St., told Portland Police Department she was pulling her 2010 Chevrolet Impala away from the ATM when her vehicle accidentally struck a pole that protects the ATM.
Damage in the 6:55 a.m. accident was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
