Boone to visit the village

Free entertainment will be held in Berne on Saturday.

Danny Russel will portray Daniel Boone from 7 to 8 p.m. at Saturday Night at the Village in Swiss Village Auditorium at 1350 W. Main St.

Russel will portray Boone’s life as a frontiersman reliving years filled with adventure, hardship and danger.

Queen theme

The theme of the 15th Annual Jay County Heritage Festival will be “A Royal Event — Celebrating Jay County Fair Queens.”

The festival will be held Sept. 23 and 24 at the Jay County Historical Museum in Portland.

All those from the beginning of the contest in 1962 until the current queen will be honored.

Other planned entertainment will be Erica Frazee, Jay Community Band, the Indiana Ramblers and Johnny Cash Tribute.
