Boys help Jay Co. beat Sharks
The 13-14-year-old boys had a clean sweep.
Four other divisions were one race away from doing the same.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team remained undefeated on Thursday, claiming the top spot in 50 of 62 individual races and all but two of the 20 relays in an 853-233 victory over the Randolph County Sharks at Portland Water Park.
Jay County improved to 7-0 on the year, and can complete its perfect season on Monday as it meets Bellmont in Decatur.
Dorane Beiswanger led the effort for the 13-14-year-old boys, winning the short freestyle, individual medley and breaststroke races. Bode Malott was victorious in the backstroke and 200-meter open freestyle, as Nico Minnich and Drew Caldwell won the breaststroke and short freestyle races.
Jay County won six individual races each in the 8-and-younger girls, 11-12-year-old boys, 15-and-older girls and 15-and-older boys divisions.
Maria Fisher led the 8-and-younger girls with three wins (long freestyle, butterfly, individual medley) while Adria Roessner had two victories (backstroke, breaststroke) and Anika Fennig won the short freestyle.
Ralph Link and Josh Monroe each won a pair of 11-12-year-old events. Link was first in the butterfly and backstroke races, while Monroe earned victories in the IM and breaststroke. Braxton Malott (long freestyle) and Timo Minnich (short freestyle) also won their respective events.
Jason Minnich got wins in the butterfly, IM and breaststroke in the 15-and-older boys division. Chase McFarland (long freestyle, backstroke) and Damian Hicks (short freestyle) also had victories.
Alex Bader, Elizabeth McDowell and Vivienne Kunkler all won two 15-and-older girls races. Bader had the top spot in the long freestyle and backstroke, McDowell won butterfly and IM while Kunkler was first in the breaststroke and short freestyle.
Creed Beiswanger was the other lone triple-event winner.
Other swimmers earning two wins apiece were Alex Miller, Kenzie Huey, Morgan DeHoff, Mara Bader, Ashlyn Dow and Eliza Bader.
Picking up single wins were Raif Beiswanger, Maddy Snow, Matthew Fisher and David Keen.
“Bring a Friend Night” winners were Matt Glentzer, Jarod Sisson, Justin DeHoff, Nick Laux, Gretchen Link and Catie Grile.
