A Portland student will be traveling to Florida in August to perform in the ARTS Showcase.
Katie Rowles was selected by national talent scout Kim Myers to perform in the ARTS Showcase at Walt Disney Swan Resort in Orlando, Florida, with Charmaine Models & Talent in Fort Wayne.
Rowles is a registered model with Charmaine Models & Talent and has been attending modeling and acting classes there to prepare for the ARTS Showcase.
She was a model in a Back to School Fashion Show and will participate in choreographed dance routines, musical theatre arrangements, vocal performances, fashion runway, improvisation and television commercials in the ARTS Showcase with agents, castings, managers,producers and others in attendance.
The ARTS will also have a meet and greet session with agents, castings and industry professionals.
Rowles is the nine-year-old daughter of Niki and Patrick Rowles and will be a fourth grader at East Elementary.
She played Leeward in Jay County Civic Theater’s production of Disney’s Little Mermaid and will participate in competitive cheer at JC Extreme.
Awarded
United Way of Jay County has been awarded $3,800 in federal funds through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
The funds are to be used to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Jay County.
