Portland Board of Works opened five bids were Thursday morning for the phase one improvements to the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
Each bid included a base value, estimates for three alternates and a total estimate — the sum of the base value and three alternates.
The work will include the installation of new final clarifiers, pumps and other improvements to the city wastewater plant, now funded after city council’s passage of sewer rate increases.
Jutte Excavating of Fort Recovery submitted the low base bid for the project, at $2,755,515, and a total bid of $2,883,780.
Also submitting bids were:
•Thieneman Construction, Westfield — $3,375,220 base, $3,582,220 total.
•Crosby Construction, Fort Wayne — $3,360,400 base, $3,710,400 total.
•James C. Jackson Company, Bluffton — $3,037,475 base, $3,236,040 total.
•Kokosing Construction, Westerville, Ohio — $3,478,000 base, $3,742,000 total.
Board of Works will review the bids and plans and award the contract in September.
