Cheerleaders to host a clinic at high school
Taking Note
Jay County High School cheerleaders will host a mini cheerleading clinic June 26 through 28.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon on June 26 and 27, and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 28.
A showcase will be held at noon on June 28 for the public.
Registration will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on June 8, 12 and 14 at the Jay School Corporation administrative office, 1976 W. Tyson Road, Portland.
Trine news
Kevin Minnich, Portland, graduated from Trine University in Angola on May 13 with a degree in management.
Jeremy Moser, Portland, graduated from Manchester University in North Manchester on May 21 with a degree in biology-chemistry.
Area students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Trine.
Christopher Habegger, Geneva, who is majoring in design engineering technology.
Collin Saxman, Portland, who is majoring in biology.
Kyra Braun, Portland, was named to the president’s list for the spring semester at Trine.
She is an accounting major.
Healthy cooking
Seniors interested in healthy cooking will want to attend a free demonstration at the Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion in Berne.
The event will be held at 1 p.m. June 9 for those 55 and older.
Briana Eicher will demonstrate a plant-based recipe.

The topic of the last speaker series at John Jay Center for Learning will be “Eisenhower’s Guerrillas: The Jedburghs, The Maquis & The Liberation of France.”
It will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8.
Free meals
The Mercer County Council on Aging will be offering meals for seniors at Fort Recovery Public Library.
Meals will be available at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month for $3. Cards will then be played at 1 p.m. in the community room.
To make a reservation, call (419) 586-1644 at least 24 hours in advance.

The 2017 Summer Concert Series begins June 10 at Webster Depot Park in Dunkirk with Moment’s Notice performing at 7 p.m.
