Marsh supermarket auction set for Monday

A Marsh Supermarkets spokesperson says “numerous” bidders have made offers and are interested in potentially buying out the grocery chain.

The Star Press reported that the bidders made themselves known to the Delaware court overseeing the chain’s bankruptcy by Wednesday, the deadline to accept potential buyout bids.

The company and its advisors are not providing any details about the offers and bidders. The quality of bidders is the latest step in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, which began May 11.

The next step will be an auction, scheduled for Monday in bankruptcy court in the state of Delaware. Bidders will compete for the company and any of it’s remaining stores.

If the company does not find investors for all 44 stores remaining, it will face the possibility of closing. Portland’s location was among the first group of Marsh stores that closed in May.
