Arvon Frye
March 2, 1930- June 11, 2017
Arvon G. “Curly” Frye, 87, Dunkirk, died Sunday at his home.
Born in Trinity, Kentucky, to Wade L. and Stella M. (McNulty) Frye, he moved to Dunkirk in 1948.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Jean (Casey) Frye.
A veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War, he was a city mail carrier in Dunkirk for 26 years, retiring in 1990.
He was also a custodian at Westlawn Elementary School for 13 years and a school crossing guard for 15 years.
Memberships include Calvary United Methodist Church in Dunkirk and American Legion Post No. 227, where he served on the color guard and held the office of historian for several years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Rita Frye Giudice (husband: Patrick), Middletown, Delaware, Deborah Cox (friend: Jeff Myers), Dunkirk, and Donna Price (husband: Chris), Dunkirk; a sister, Norma Lee Weaver, Mount Carmel, Kentucky; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
No public services will be held and burial will take place at a later date at the Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
