Twenty-six of Marsh Supermarket’s stores have been conditionally sold at auction, including two locations in Muncie.
The two stores in Muncie, 1500 W. McGalliard Road and 715 S. Tillotson Ave., were purchased by Topvalco/Kroger, along with nine other stores, according to The Star Press.
Another 15 stores were sold to Generative Growth/Fresh Encounter, out of Ohio.
Eighteen additional Marsh stores that have remained open but were not sold will begin liquidating their merchandise. Two of those stores are also in Muncie.
Also settled Wednesday was an agreement between CVS and the 26 stores’ new owners.
Kroger and Generative Growth/Fresh Encounter agreed to refrain from opening pharmacies in the stores until at least Jan. 31, 2018, the Indianapolis Business Journal reports.
CVS had bought out Marsh’s pharmacies in April for $38 million.
A provision in the agreement barred any purchasers of Marsh supermarkets from opening a pharmacy in those stores for at least five years.
Kroger and Generative Growth/Fresh Encounter were reportedly unwilling to purchase the 26 stores unless the provision was modified.

The Tipsy Glass took home a Double Gold award for Sydney’s Blush wine; a Gold award for Love Potion; Silvers for Peach Perfection, Patriot Red and Apple Cliff; and Bronze for Goober Grape and Girl’s Best Friend.
