Four players collected three hits apiece as Williams Auto Parts picked up a 20-12 victory over Pioneer Packaging on Thursday in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball division.
Izzy McAbee, Dawson Goldsworthy, Hayden Ison, Carter Hartman and Kevin Dues were all 3-for-3 in the Williams victory.
McAbee and Ison both had doubles, while McAbee drove in three runs and scored twice. Dues tallied three runs while Goldsworthy and Hartman both crossed the plate twice.
Joe Geesaman smacked a double and brought home three runs, while Gabe Bowers also hit a double.
Carson Busick and Jaxson Huntsman both went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored in the loss for Pioneer.
Sam Wiggins, Bentley Comer and Dillon Jellison each had a pair of hits and scored twice.
PG-14 shuts out Lions
PG-14 only gave up one hit on Thursday in a 13-0 victory over Portland Lions Club in Willie Mays action of Portland Junior League.
Ryne Goldsworthy had a double and two singles to lead PG-14, which also got a double and a single with two RBIs from Maddox Huffman.
Tony Wood notched a single and three RBIs, while Layne Reidt also had two singles.
Connor Specht, Landon Blowers, Ricardo Nava, Rhysin Blowers and Tanner Hurt also had hits for PG-14.
Isaac Scott hit a double as the only hit for Lions Club.
Local wins
In PJL’s Sandy Koufax division, Local 1620 defeated Loy’s Realty 12-3 on Thursday.
Gavin Myers and Rylee Huftel were each 3-for-4 for Local 1620. Darius Esparza and Bailey Cox chipped in two hits apiece, while Logan Ballard added one hit.
Juan Pablo Wiggins launched a home run and also had a double in the loss for Loy’s. Cam Hoover collected two hits and a walk, as Taron Bentz, Mickey Waters, Javy Sargent, Jesse Basham and Hunter Young had a single apiece.
Graphic tops Lodge
Graphic Printing picked up a 19-8 victory over Masonic Lodge on Wednesday in Portland Junior League’s Major softball division.
Shelby Heistand, Natalie Miles, Gwen Butcher and Hannah Clayton all had two hits apiece.
Heistand had a home run and an RBI, Butcher drove in two runs with a double and Clayton also had an RBI.
Lita Chowning chipped in a single and an RBI while Abby Gillum tallied three RBIs.Drew Dressel and Justice Day each hit homers for Masonic Lodge.
Reiley Brewster and Heidi Cox both doubled while Madison Curtis and Grace Maitlen both singles.
Fisher falls
Fisher Meats dropped a 10-5 score to Jay County Therapeutics on Tuesday in PJL’s Minor softball action.
Laci McGinnis was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for Jay County Therapeutics.
Zoe Romine collected three hits and drove in a run, as Courtney Harris and Brenna Bailey each had a pair of hits.
Mallory Winner was 3-for-3 and Dakota Chowning had a single.
Nevaeh Armstrong led fishers with a double and Layliana Eldeeb contributed a single.
There is one week remaining of regular season action. The postseason tournament is slated for the week of June 26.
