The Portland Rockets had plenty of offense.

With the caliber of pitching they got Sunday, they didn’t need all of those runs.

Veteran Dan Bollenbacher and Rocket rookie Max Habegger combined for 21 strikeouts while allowing just one run Sunday in a doubleheader sweep — 11-1 in five innings and 9-0 — of the Fort Wayne Wizards.

Bollenbacher, a South Adams High School graduate, took care of the pitching duties in the shortened opener. He struck out nine while allowing just three hits.

Habegger, a 19-year-old Carmel High School graduate who is in his first season with the Rockets, blew through the Fort Wayne lineup in the second game to the tune of 12 strikeouts.

Zach Tanner paced the offense, ripping a triple and three doubles as part of a 6-for-7 effort. T.J. Lindstrand slammed Portland’s lone home run of the day.

Brandon Reamon finished with four hits, and Dalton Tinsley and Collin Affolder, another South Adams graduate, added three hits apiece.

The Rockets, who are now 10-7, will be at home again at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as they host the Ohio Warhawks.
