The Rookie League baseball championship game is set.
Ponderosa secured its spot in the title game Monday as it cruised to an 18-6 victory over Barnett’s Auto Parts in Portland Junior League tournament action at Weiler-Wilson Park. Pak-A-Sak followed with a 16-7 win over Williams Auto Parts to earn the right to play Ponderosa in the Rookie finale at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Ponderosa got a strong effort throughout its lineup with Roman Clamme, Porter Clamme and Grant Fennig each finishing 3-for-3. Nick Snow was 3-for-4, and Chase Ninde added a pair of hits.
Brothers Benson and Boston Barnett each had two hits for Barnett’s.
Aryan Montes and Eli Stockton powered Pak-A-Sak to its championship berth with four hits apiece. Brayden O’Brien and Trevor Jones each added three hits.
Izzy McAbee and Kevin Dues finished with three hits apiece for Williams.
Pak-A-Sak advanced to Monday’s semifinal thanks to a 15-2 victory Saturday over All Circuit Electrical. Alex Miller, Cooper Reynolds, Montes, Stockton, O’Brien and Jones each had three hits in that victory.
Kohen Stephen, Brady Millspaugh, Shaun Harrell and Bryce Garringer had two hits apiece for All Circuit.
Winner leads
Mallory Winner came up big for Jay County Therapeutics as it topped Fisher Meats 11-2 in four innings in the Minor League softball tournament.
Winner had a pair of hits for Jay County Therapeutics, including a three-run home run in the second inning. Breanna Zorn went 2-for-3, and Savannah Luger and Dakota Chowning each had one hit and one RBI.
Lauren Brewster recorded a hit for Fisher.
