Jay Co. tankers remain perfect

BERNE — Dominance in the 13-14-year-old division kept the undefeated streak intact.

The Jay County Summer Swim Team won every event in the 13-14-year-old division Tuesday as it rolled to a 720.5-465.5 win over the South Adams Starfish. The victory pushed the team’s record to 5-0 this season.

Four boys combined for the 13-14-year-old sweep, with Bode Malott taking both freestyle events while Drew Caldwell was first in the butterfly and individual medley. Damian Hicks and Griffin Mann won the backstroke and breaststroke respectively.

Eliza Bader and Ashlyn Dow took care of all of the 13-14-year-old girls victories, with the former finishing first in the long freestyle, butterfly
and backstroke. Dow led the way in the IM, breaststroke and short freestyle.

Jay County also swept the 15-and-older boys events with Jason Minnich winning the 200 freestyle, short freestyle and IM while Garrett Campbell was first in the long freestyle, butterfly and backstroke. Ben Strausburg tacked on a first-place finish in the breaststroke.

Other triple event winners for Jay County were Creed Beiswanger, Mara Bader, Josh Monroe and Alex Bader. Natalie Carreno, Morgan DeHoff and Braxton Malott added two victories apiece.
