Permits were issued for more than $1.3 million in new construction in February and more than $400,000 in January by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Office.

Permits were issued to Oakland Gaerke for a $600,000 new home at 4175 N. U.S. 27, Eric and Sharon Hiatt for a $264,111 new home at 2862 E. 900 South, Gloria and Brad Osterholt for a $120,000 barn at 2387 E. 400 South, Waste Management for a $260,000 storage tank and containment unit at the Jay County Landfill, and Menno M.K. Eicher for a $125,000 new home and barn at 018 W. 800 North.
