Jackson Hobbs, who holds the Fort Recovery High School record for career wins, earned his first collegiate victory March 23 for the Edison State Community College baseball team.
The 2016 FRHS graduate went the distance, scattering five hits over seven innings while allowing one earned run. He struck out four, didn’t allow a walk and gave up one earned run as the Chargers defeated Ohio University-Chillicothe 10-1.
The freshman was aided by the Charger defense turning three double plays.
Hobbs, who notched 30 career victories in leading the Indians to back-to-back OHSAA Division IV regional championships, has appeared in two games and started one, with a 1-0 record and one save. He has tossed 10 innings, surrendered seven hits, struck out eight, walked one and allowed one earned run withan 0.90 ERA.

Pushed her career-opening winning streak to six matches for the Trine University women’s tennis team as the Thunder split a pair of contests.
At No. 6 singles, Braun defeatedHeidelberg’’s Mallory Paul 6-0, 6-2 on Saturday as Trine won 5-4.
Braun beat Rebecca Faber of University of Saint Francis 6-1, 6-4 as the Thunder (2-9) lost to the Cougars on Saturday, 7-2.
The freshman is now 6-0 and leads the Thunder in singles victories.
Collin Affolder
South Adams – 2014
Recorded six hits recently for the Bethel College baseball team.
Affolder had two hits, one run,an RBI and a walk Friday in a 14-8 loss to the Taylor Trojans. On the following day he had a single and an RBI in a 21-20 victory over the Trojans in 14 innings.
He had one hit in a 3-2 victory Monday in the first game of a doubleheader against Grace College, before a two-hit, two-run effort withan RBI as the Pilots (13-6, 4-5 Crossroads League) won game two, 11-8.
Catherine Dunn
Jay County – 2015
Recorded one hit and scored three times for the Brescia University softball team recently.
The sophomore had one hit and one run during a 5-4 victory March 23 over Midway in the first game of a doubleheader. She added two runs as the Bearcats (10-10, 4-0 River States Conference) defeated Asbury 6-2 during the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Dunn is batting .317 in 13 games for the Bearcats. She has 13 hits, seven runs and two RBIs with eight strikeouts.

Scored runs in three consecutive games for the Huntington University baseball team recently.
The junior entered as a pinch runner for catcher Michael Crowley and scored a run during the Forester’s 19-3 win Saturday against Spring Arbor. He also scored as a pinch runner as HU (13-7, 6-2 Crossroads League) defeated Indiana Wesleyan 9-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday. He added yet another run in the nightcap, a 2-1 victory.
Selvey has appeared in nine games this season and tallied three runs without registering an at bat.

Was the runner-up for the Indiana Wesleyan women’s track team Saturdayin the IWU Polar Bear Invitational.
The junior finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 13 minutes, 28.1 seconds. Bethel’s Breann Fawcett won in 13:15.45.

Pitched for the Goshen College baseball team inan 6-4 loss Tuesday against IPFW.
Ingle tossed one inning of relief, entering in the eighth with the Maple Leafs (14-13-1) trailing 6-4. He gave up one hit to the four batters he faced, inducing three pop outs on 13 pitches to prevent further damage.
