Jay Co. band to go to Kentucky
Taking Note
The Jay County High School Marching Patriot Band will march in the 2017 Republic Bank Pegasus Parade on Thursday in Louisville, Kentucky.
The parade will be broadcast live locally on NBC affiliate WAVE TV 3.
The annual parade is a precurser for the Kentucky Derby Festival and attracts approximately 150,000 spectators.
This will be the band’s fifth appearance in the parade, including performances in 1980, 1995, 1999 and 2008.
Fort museum
The Fort Recovery State Museum will open for the season on May 7 with a special event “Come Sit a Spell” from noon until 4 p.m.
On display will be a hands-on exhibit of historic collection items of the Fort Recovery Historical Society and battle artifacts found by Ball State Archaeology.
Archaeologist Chris Thompson will be on hand to explain military artifacts.
The museum is located at 1 Fort Site St. in Fort Recovery.
