Plan to read at library

Activities are coming up at Fort Recovery Public Library.

The summer reading program “Build A Better World” will begin May 30 and continue through July 12. Program schedules are available at the library at 113 N. Wayne St. The reading program is sponsored by the Theta Zeta Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and The Friends of the Fort Recovery Library.

To kick-off the program, musician Tom Sieling will perform at 10:30 a.m. on May 31. He will present a humorous participatory sing-along for all ages.

The Friends of the Fort Recovery Library will host a used book sale from May 30 through June 3 at the library.



Volunteer program

The Summer Junior Volunteer Program will be held again this year at Swiss Village in Berne for students 10 and older.

Students can volunteer one to two hours per week at Swiss Village, Kinder Haus or the Muselman Wellness Pavilon.

The program will begin May 30 and continue through Aug. 11. Applications are available on the Swiss Village website at www.swissvillage.org or at the front desk at Swiss Village or the Muselman Wellness Pavilion.

Speaker series

The Speaker Series continues at John Jay Center for Learning, 101 S. Meridian St., Portland.

Author Brenda Robertson Stewart will discuss “Tales From the Dead” at 6 p.m. on May 23.



Earns scholarship

Dillan Schulze, Fort Recovery, was recently awarded a $1,000 Sunrise Cooperative scholarship.

Schulze is attending Wright State University and majoring in engineering.
