BERNE — The seniors have played a big part in the Starfires winning 15 consecutive games.

Two of them were key to keeping the winning streak alive.

Katelin Augsburger struck out a career-high 21 batters and Morgan Alberson scored on a heads-up play in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday as the South Adams High School softball team beat the Woodlan Warriors 3-2.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Taylor Augsburger hit a pop up behind the pitcher. The ball was dropped, and Alberson, who was on second base, kept running. As the Warrior defense struggled to get the ball, the senior scored the game-winning run for the Class 2A No. 1 Starfires (16-0, 4-0 Allen County Athletic Conference).

Katelin Augsburger shined yet again. She scattered two hits, one of which was a two-run home run in the sixth inning. She walked five and fanned 21 in eight innings.

Alberson led SAHS with two hits. Isabella Ramirez, Kayla LeFever, Keira Pinnock and Lexi Dellinger each had singles.
