Students of Month named at West Jay
Taking Note
West Jay Middle School named its Students of the Month for April.
In sixth grade was Thomas Charles, the son of Dawn and Matt Alexander, Les Charles and Lisa Powers.
In seventh grade was Stephanie Adkins, the daughter of Roger Adkins.
In eighth grade was Austin Wolfe, the son of Monica Wolfe.
Glass Days
The 51st Annual Dunkirk Glass Days will be held May 31 to June 1 in downtown Dunkirk with the theme “Blame it All on Our Roots.”
Senior activities will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Jay Community Center. A hog roast will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dunkirk American Legion. The Miss Prince Glass will be at 5 p.m. and the Cinderella Queen of Glass Pageant will follow at 8 p.m., both on the main stage.
On Thursday Ardagh will give a group presentation at 4:30 p.m. on stage, followed by the Dunkirk Kiwanis Annual Pet Parade from 4 to 4:45 p.m. A magic show will begin at 6 p.m. and the Magic Bus Concert will play music from the 60s at 8 p.m.
Ardagh factory tours will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for those 12 and older. Cutest Kids contests will start at 5 p.m. for kids six months through six years old. My Girl Friday concert will be at 8 p.m., playing a variety of 80s, 90s and 2K rock favorites. Glass blowing demonstrations will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Activities on Saturday include a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. Line-up for the parade is at 10 a.m. at Dunkirk City Park, with the parade beginning at noon. Reduced ride arm bands will be available for $12 to ride from 1 to 6 p.m. The line-up for the inagural Streetscape Car Show will be at 2 p.m., north of the railroad on Main Street. Dunkirk’s Got Talent is at 3 p.m. and the 5th Annual Cornhole Tournament is at 5 p.m.
The evening wraps up with Greg Rodes in concert at 6:30 p.m. and Cook & Belle performing at 8 p.m.
