BLUFFTON — The Eagles have broken records all season.
Tuesday’s conference meet was no different.
Sophia Fugiett and Kinsey Shannon both set new school records as the West Jay Middle School girls track team finished fourth in the Allen County Athletic Conference Championships at Bluffton High School.
Adams Central won the girls team championship with a score of 155. South Adams was second with 97.1 points, West Jay scored 97.1 for third and East Jay was fourth with 58.6 points.
Woodlan won the boys title with 112 points. South Adams was second with 95 points while Bluffton scored 86.5 points for third. West Jay (68.5) was fourth and East Jay (33) placed seventh.
Fugiett, a WJMS eighth grader, won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 40.9 seconds, besting her own record set earlier this season. Fugiett also won the 800 run in a new school record time of 2:34.6. Shannon, also a WJMS eighth grader, won the 200 dash in 28.3 seconds to set a new record.
Peyton Pries of South Adams won shot put with a distance of 24 feet, 11 inches, and Kristen Wynn won the 100 dash in 13.4 seconds. Starfires’ 4x100 relay team of Brooklyn Bixler, Alison Smith, Madison Smith and Wynn won in 54.6 seconds.
West Jay’s Luke Haggard earned the only individual victory for the Eagles, claiming the top spot in the 200 dash with a time of 25.5 seconds. He then joined Quinn Faulkner, Aaron Funkhouser and Lane Chapman to set a school record in the 4x400 relay, winning with a time of 4:02.5.
Drew Powers, Haggard, Faulkner and Chapman combined to win the 4x100 relay in 49.4 seconds.
