New groups will meet in Portland
Taking Note
Fortress - Art & Spiritual Mentoring will begin having community events at The Glass Bonsai, 110 S. Meridian St. in Portland.
Book-Blog will discuss “The Shack” by Wm. Paul Young from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning Wednesday, May 24.
The group will continue to meet on May 31, June 7 and 14.
“The Five People You Meet in Heaven” will be discussed in August and “The Happy Christian” in September.
Do you write from the heart? Write-Heart, a group to share family friendly short writings or a portion from a longer piece, will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. beginning Thurday, May 25.
The group will meet each Thursday through Aug. 31 and will also meet from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, July 6 and Aug. 3.

Open house
Jay County Historical Society Museum will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for alumni of Pennville and Bryant high schools and the community.
Special displays will include Jack Imel’s marimba, antique toys, artwork by Steve McClung and an 1850s piano donated by Richard Hidy.
The museum is located at 903 E. Main St. in Portland.
