Carl S. Bowen, 90, Portland, died Monday at his home.
Born in Portland to Ray and Opal (Wood) Bowen, he was a 1945 graduate of Portland High School.
He first married Ruth Ann Smiley on July 17, 1948, and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2001.
He then married Joan Robbins on July 19, 2002, and she survives.
A veteran of the United States Army, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 211 and West Walnut Church of Christ in Portland.
He was a farmer, owner and operator of B&G Oil Company in Portland and a school bus driver for more than 40 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Tim Bowen (wife: Vicki), Ringgold, Georgia, and Bruce Bowen (wife: Jane), Portland; a daughter, Melanie Metzler (husband: Jim), Zionsville; a brother, Roger Bowen (wife: Luetta), Portland; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at West Walnut Street Church of Christ with Pastor Gil Alicia officiating. Burial will follow in Salamonia Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
