Iris Polk

Iris P. Polk, 67, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at her home in Portland.
Iris was born on Jan. 25, 1950, in Muncie to Claude and Marie Polk. Later, Iris would move to Portland where she would live in a group home for handicapped adults for over 35 years.
Iris loved life. She was very friendly and outgoing. She never met a stranger. Iris loved country music, especially singer Loretta Lynn. She participated in Special Olympics and enjoyed bowling.
Her surviving family includes three sisters, Ruthanna Stout, Mary Schumacher and Shirley Roberts (Chuck); brother-in-law John McKnight; sister-in-law Peggy Polk; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; special friends Annie Simmons and Jodie Williamson; and all her friends and staff at the North Street Group Home and Jay-Randolph Developmental Services.
In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her brothers, George Polk, John Polk, and infant brother James Polk; and sister Marilyn McKnight.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Pastor Mark Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
Visitation will be prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m.
