Lilly Butcher

Lilly L. Butcher, age 89, 310 W. Seventh St., Portland, passed away Monday in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare. She was born in Fort Wayne on June 5, 1928, the daughter of Oliver and Ruby (Hines) Boolman. She was married Aug. 10, 1946, to Homer Butcher who survives. She had worked at CTS in Berne and Jay Garment.

Surviving are her husband Homer; one brother, Nolan Boolman of Portland; two sisters, Genevieve Newton of Portland and Jeanette Newton of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry Butcher and Larry Allen Butcher.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society.
