The majority of Indiana’s school corporations received B grades. Jay County was among them.
Jay School Corporation was one of 149 — 51.6 percent — to receive a B when Indiana Department of Education released grades Wednesday evening.
South Adams earned an A grade.
The grades are designed to measure a corporation’s performance in terms of student performance, individual growth and college/career readiness.
Statewide, 48 corporations — 16.6 percent — earned A grades while 63 earned C grades. Seven earned D or F grades, and 22 grades are still pending appeal.
Individual school grades were released last month, with East,Pennville and Westlawn elementary schools earning A grades. Bloomfield, Redkey and Judge Haynes elementaries , East Jay and West Jay middle schools and Jay County High School received B grades, and General Shanks Elementary got a C grade.
South Adams Elementary School earned an A grade for the fifth straight year, and the high school also received an A. The middle school came away with a B grade.
Jay County Christian Academy received a C grade for the second consecutive year.
