Bonnie Nevil-Franks
Bonnie Nevil-Franks, age 88, a resident of Portland, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.
Bonnie was born on June 30, 1929, in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of Omer and Edith (Mann) Nevil. She was a member of the Moose Auxiliary in Decatur and the American Legion Post #211 Auxiliary in Portland. Bonnie worked at General Electric in Decatur and CTS in Berne. She was also a cosmetologist and graduated as an honor student from MIMS School of Beauty in Port Arthur, Texas. She married Charles Franks on Jan. 27, 1961, and he passed away on June 26, 2007.
Survivors include:
One son — Roger Smitley (wife: Peggy), Bryant, Indiana
One daughter — Phyllis Brown (husband: Joe), Geneva, Indiana
One step-son — Charles Franks II, Pasadena, Texas
One brother — Gerald Nevil, Fort Wayne, Indiana
Twelve grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Paul VanCise will officiate and burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, west of Portland.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
