Larry D. Sherley, 79, of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away at 3:34 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, while in the company of family members, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
Larry was born in Redkey, Indiana, on April 13, 1938, a son of the late Rachel E. (Walters) and Oscar Sherley.
He was a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Dunkirk, Indiana.
Larry served in the U.S. Navy as an ADR AN.
He worked as a machine operator at General Motors Muncie, Indiana.
Larry was a former member of Redkey and Dunkirk Lions Clubs, United Auto Workers Local 321, Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, Redkey F&AM Halfway Lodge and former chairman of Dunkirk Liars Club.
He loved gardening and woodworking, and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Freda, daughter Ronda and son Rod.
He is survived by his granddaughter Brittany E. Sherley of Clarksville, Tennessee, grandson Dylan M. Sherley of Joelton, Tennessee, great-granddaughter Aubrey E. Sherley and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Dunkirk Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at MJS Mortuaries – Dunkirk Chapel, with Pastor Randy Davis officiating at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries Dunkirk Chapel.
