Estaline Newhouse, age 98, a resident of Pennville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov.14, 2017, at Jay County Hospital in Portland.
Estaline was born on May 2, 1919, in Randolph County, Indiana, the daughter of Warrie and Mary Elizabeth (Harshman) Bousman. She graduated from Saratoga High School in 1937. Estaline married Don Newhouse on Dec. 24, 1939, and he passed away on Jan. 7, 1980. She worked for Hooks Drug Store for 13 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First Church of God in Portland.
Survivors include:
One son — Elvin Newhouse, Pennville, Indiana
One daughter — Mary Jane Johnson (husband: Kenneth), Muncie, Indiana
Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the IOOF Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Historical Society.
