Escape room to be held at Jay Library
Escape rooms have become increasingly popular and Jay County Public Library is getting in on the action.
After hours on Saturday, Oct. 28, an “Escape the Library” event will be held at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. Participants can come alone or as a team and the event is for high school age and older.

October is also Mystery Month at the library and kids are invited to try Scooby Doo hands-on activities in the children’s area.
There will be Scooby Doo beanbag toss, Shaggy and Scooby Tic-Tac-Toe, take a selfie with one of the Scooby Doo crew, imagine taking a ride on the Mystery Machine, watch an episode of Scooby Doo between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Children can come in costume for Halloween Fun & Games from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. There will be board and card games, a craft, cookies to decorate and punch.
A Literary Detective Quiz will be available for adults and older teens throughout the month.
Clubs meeting this month will include the Cookbook Club at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Bring a favorite apple recipe.
JayCPL Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, to discuss the mystery “Uprooted” by Naomi Novik.
Hook &?Needles Club will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Writers Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30.
Story & Fun Fun Time will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 23 and 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 17, 24 and 31. Mother Goose & Me will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, 13 and 20.
Students of Month
West Jay Middle School named its Students of the Month for September.
In sixth grade was Parker Nichols, the son of Rod and Beth Nichols.
In seventh grade was Astella Fisher, the daughter of Wade and Antonia Fisher.
In eighth grade was Aaron Funkhouser, the son of Lee Funkhouser and Teresa Elmore.
