PANDORA, Ohio — The Tribe’s dominance against non-conference opponents continued Tuesday.

Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team dismantled the Pandora-Gilboa Rockets, 25-12, 25-10, 25-3.

The win pushes the Division IV No. 5 Indians’ record to 16-2, including a 12-0 mark against teams outside the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Cassy Martin was part of a trio of Tribe players to record kill totals in double digits. She had a match-high dozen kills, ahead of Paige Jutte (11) and Carley Stone (10). Paige Fortkamp chipped in seven kills.

Brooke Gaerke and Stone contributed four and two blocks respectively.

Hannah Knapke tallied five digs, and Madi Rammel totaled 32 assists.

Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also won, 25-7, 25-11.

Olivia Patch and Val Muhlenkamp had eight and four kills respectively for Fort Recovery. Kierra Wendel and Natalie Homan totaled three kills apiece. Homan also had four aces, and Rachel Acheson recorded 18 assists.



SA season ends

FORT WAYNE — The South Adams girls soccer team had its season end on Tuesday with a 2-1 loss to the Manchester Squires in the Class 1A Sectional 40 tournament opener.

Lexi Dellinger scored the lone goal for the Starfires (8-8-1). The senior notched her team-leading 30th goal of the season. The rest of her team totaled 27 goals on the year.

Goalkeeper Jenna Myers made eight saves for South Adams.



Fort freshmen win

COLDWATER — Fort Recovery’s freshman volleyball team defeated the Coldwater Cavaliers on Tuesday, 25-17, 25-13.

Ava Bubp led the Indians with five kills, as Maria Hartings and Hope Wendel were second on the team with four apiece. Kyra Clark chipped in three kills.

Wendel’s four aces were a team high, and she shared the team lead of five assists with Bubp. Brenna Homan tallied 10 digs.



Patriots get victories

The Jay County middle school football teams both picked up victories on Tuesday.

The eighth grade Patriots defeated St. Vincent (Fort Wayne) 17-6, and the seventh graders defeated Woodlan 18-6.

Caleb Hale and Quinn Faulkner both had 25-yard rushing touchdowns for the eighth graders. Christian Marentes also had a 24-yard field goal, and Faulkner added a two-point conversion.

Shawn Fisher had an interception while Sean Guntle and Blake Witt both had sacks.

Bennett Weitzel, Mason Ludy and Kadin Ridenour all had rushing touchdowns for the seventh grade team. Josh Dowlen, Dawson Hundley, Ludy and Ridenour all tallied five tackles to lead the defense.



Stars fall

BERNE — The South Adams seventh and eighth grade football teams on Tuesday both lost to St. Charles (Fort Wayne).

The eighth graders fell 36-12, and the seventh grade team lost 24-6.

AJ Dull had a 6-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for the eighth graders, and Uriel Hernandez reached the end zone on a 66-yard scamper in the fourth. Dull and Hernandez also had two tackles for loss.

Brady Beall connected with Maverick Summersett for a 65-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for the seventh graders.
