Donald W. Klingel, 78, a resident of Rushville, passed away Sunday at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Indiana. He was a former Madison Township resident.
Don was born August 1, 1939, in Madison Township, the son of Herman “Cap” and Mildred (Messner) Klingel. Don served in the Army National Guard. He was a dairy farmer in Madison Township for several years and worked as a general contractor in Indianapolis. He owned and operated Don’s Chuckwagon for 14 years, traveling to many fairs and festivals in east central Indiana. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion. Don married Peggy McCormick on March 6, 1975.

One son — Jeffrey Klingel (wife: Gini), Noble, Oklahoma
Three daughters: Wanetta Stiers (husband: Greg), Alexandria, Indiana, Sherry Brown (husband: John), Granville, Ohio, and Rebecca Delph (husband: John), Frankton, Indiana
Two step-sons: James Harshman, Austin, Texas, and Scott Harshman (wife: Jenni), Zionsville, Indiana
One step-daughter: Debra Grider (husband: Gary), Hartford City, Indiana
One brother: Charles Klingel (wife Glenna), Muncie, Indiana
One sister: Susan Klingel-Dowd (husband Michael), Muncie, Indiana
Ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
