Speaker series to continue at John Jay Center
John Jay Center for Learning in Portland continues its Fall 2017 Speaker Series.
An Introduction to Infectious Disease, a six-week DVD series, will be facilitated by Gail Kuhn, infectious disease coordinator at Jay County Hospital.
The series will begin Tuesday, Oct. 31, and continue through Tuesday, Dec. 5. All programs will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 2, Richard Kennison, retired Air Force Lt. Col., will facilitate a program on the Strategic Air Command (SAC) from 10 to 11:15 a.m.
The United States created the SAC in 1946 in order to protect itself and its allies from the Soviet Union. Kennison served with the SAC for 12 years.

Baby Day
Swiss Village’s Annual Baby Day will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in Swiss Village Auditorium.
Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their babies to visit with residents from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Babies will receive a special gift made by Swiss Village residents.

SilverSneakers
National SilverSneakers Week is Oct. 23 to 27 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the SilverSneakers program.
To celebrate, a SilverSneakers Classic class will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 25 at the Arthur & Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion, 1201 Emmental Drive in Berne.
After the class there will be a snack, socialization and a balloon release. Class participants are asked to wear blue.
