Painting event to be held on Saturday

Community & Family Services will have a new event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Jay County Event Center, 555 S. Bridge St. in Portland.

Coffee and Canvas will offer specialty coffee and smoothie drinks from Joe on the Go.

Anyone wanting to sponsor the event for $100 will receive a free ticket to the event, free publicity and a chance to receive a $50 Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credit.

Food for fines 

Those with fines at Jay County Public Library can pay with food in November as part of Food for Fines and help a local food pantry 

For each non-perishable food item donated from Nov. 6 to 18, a $2 voucher will be given to use toward overdue fines.

Ten items can be donated for vouchers.

The food will then be given to the Helping Hand Food Pantry in time for Thanksgiving.
