Max DeHoff

Max H. DeHoff age 94, Portland, passed away Tuesday evening in Christian Care Retirement Center in Bluffton. He was born in Avilla, Indiana June 19, 1923 the son of Harry and Elsie (Flauding) DeHoff. He was married April 15, 1950 to R. Jean Callahan and she died February 16, 2009. He had served with the US Army Airforce from 1943-1945. He was retired as a clerk for the Pennsylvania Railway. He attended Portland Friends Church and was a member of VFW 2840.

Surviving are two sons Steven J. DeHoff (wife Alice) of Coatesville and John M. DeHoff of Union City, three daughters Karen Bost (husband William) of Portland, Sue Slefinger (husband Peter) of Readfield, Maine, and Beth Tudor (husband James) of Bluffton, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Harris presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00–7:00 p.m. Memorials can be made to Portland Friends Church.
