College Goal Sunday to be held at John Jay

A free event will be held to help students prepare for college.
College Goal Sunday will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, at John Jay Center for Learning to help students and parents complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please bring 2016 tax forms and W-2 forms.
Anyone not able to attend, may schedule an appointment with Carolyn Carducci by calling (260) 729-5525. John Jay is located at 101 S. Meridian St. in Portland.
At Fort Library
A local author and illustrator will visit Fort Recovery Public Library in November.
Judy Bruns, the author of “Thousand Dollar Baseball” and the book’s illustrator Kathy Salyer Ayers will speak at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6.
The story is about a neighborhood baseball game that took place in Fort Recovery when Bruns was a child. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Also, friends of the Library are hosting a scholastic book fair Nov. 12 through Nov. 18 at the library, 113 N. Wayne St.
At Blackford Center
Recitals for piano and guitar students will be held at the Blackford County Arts Center.
Students participating in group piano labs will have a recital at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. Student performers include Jenna Dent, Aalyah Branscum, Caleb Hueston, Brooklin Scharzkopf, Serenity Fraley, Harley Hiles and Ellie Strong. The instructor is Emily Goins.
Students in group guitar labs will have a recital at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6. Students performing will be Ayden Fletcher, Makynna Stafford, Ryan Gorrell and Cate Wolfe. The instructor is Andy Kern.
