FORT WAYNE — The Starfires’ winning streak came to an end.
The South Adams High School volleyball team had its eight-match winning streak snapped on Monday with a 25-23, 25-19, 27-25 loss to host Blackhawk Christian.
Madi Wurster had 12 kills, two blocks and six digs for the Starfires (13-4). Addie Wanner was second on the team with nine kills to go with her two digs. Shania Neal led SAHS defensively with eight digs, Julia Grabau tallied 18 assists and Jade Farlow contributed three kills.
The Starfires’ junior varsity team defeated Blackhawk Christian, 25-14, 25-20. Savannah Alberson led South Adams with eight kills. She also had one dig. Gabriella Bailey and Katelyn Hamrick totaled four kills each. Esther Troyer notched four aces, and Jocie Grabau tallied 18 assists to go along with her four aces.
SA shuts out Heritage
BERNE — South Adams’ girls soccer team shut out the visiting Heritage Patriots on Thursday, 4-0.
The Starfires (5-4, 1-1 Allen County Athletic Conference) scored twice in each half for the shutout win.
Senior Lexi Dellinger had two goals and an assist to lead South Adams. Emilee Myers and Madi Smith also had goals. Kayla LeFever and Smith notched assists as well.
Jenna Myers, the SAHS goalkeeper, only faced six shots and turned them all away.
SA falls 6-0
MONROEVILLE — The South Adams boys soccer team is still searching for its first win of the season following a 6-0 loss Monday to the host Heritage Patriots.
Heritage (3-4-2, 2-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) clinched at least a share of the ACAC championship with the win. It plays Woodlan on Sept. 25.
South Adams (0-7-2, 0-1 ACAC) allowed two goals in the first half to the Patriots while managing just two shots on net. The Starfires had more offensive opportunities in the final 40 minutes, but also gave up four more goals to the Patriots.
Goalkeeper Lars In’t Groen was busy, making 17 saves on the night.
