Mystery writers to visit Jay Co. library
Taking Note
The Speed City Sisters-in-Crime authors will visit Jay County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Sisters-in-Crime is a network of 3,600 members worldwide that supports those who write mystery novels, with the Speed City chapter based in Indiana.
Speaking will be N.W. Campbell, who has written short stories published in the collections of “Decades of Dirt: Murder, Mystery and Mayhem” and “The Fine Art of Murder.”
Ross Carley has a background in military intelligence,engineering and defense. He has written two novels in the Wolf Ruger series — “Dead Drive” and “Formula Murder.”
Brenda Stewart brings her knowledge and experience in forensics to her writing and has authored the forensic mystery series that features Lettie Sue Wolfe.
Steve Terrell is a lawyer and writer from Muncie and has authored four books and several short stories.
Interaction with the audience will follow the speakers and books will be available for sale.
Fort Library activities
Activities are coming up at Fort Recovery Public Library, 113 N. Wayne St.
Chair yoga will be held from 2:30 to 3:10 p.m. each Wednesday through Nov. 15. The introductory class will include simple seated and standing poses.
Music time for toddlers and preschoolers will be held at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Blood drive
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in honor of September being National Preparedness Month to make sure the Red Cross is prepared to respond to patient emergencies across the country every day.
The drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Jay Community Center, 115 E. Water St. in Portland.
Anyone wanting to donate can download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767 to make an appointment.
Mammography night
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, Adams Memorial Hospital will host its annual Mammography Night from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9.
Mammograms will be available forfirst time patients of the hospital or for patients that haven’t had a mammogram at the hospital for five years. The cost will be filed with a patient’s insurance or a grant from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust may provide free screenings to those who qualify.
