Kyra Braun became a doubles player this
She completed her fall singles season with a win.
Braun, a 2016 Jay County High School graduate, capped the fall portion of her sophomore tennis season by helping the Trine Thunder defeat Indiana Tech 7-2 Sunday in the final match of 2017.
The former Patriot didn’t drop a game in beating Abigail
Braun and her doubles partner Katie Simon received a forfeit in their No. 3 doubles match. They completed the fall season with a perfect 5-0 record.

Kylie Osborne
Jay County – 2016
Kept her stranglehold on the team lead in kills thanks to recent performances for the Anderson University volleyball team.
She was second on the team with 11 kills, and her eight kills were third as the Ravens defeated Marietta College 3-2 Saturday.
Later that day, she had a pair of kills in a 3-0 sweep of Ohio Christian.
The sophomore totaled eight kills, two assists, one dig and an ace in a 3-0 loss Tuesday to St. Mary of the Woods.
Osborne leads the Ravens (6-10) with 137 kills.
Eric Hemmelgarn
Jay County – 2014
Helped pace the defense for the top-ranked University of Saint Francis football team Saturday in a 48-23 victory over Saint Xavier University.
Hemmelgarn had two tackles and 1.5 sacks for the NAIA No. 1 and defending national champion Cougars (4-0). The senior helped his teammates bring down SXU quarterback Alex Martinez in the backfield on the first drive of the game, then had a solo sack later in the quarter.
Drew LeFever
South Adams – 2016
Had one carry for the Taylor University football team on Saturday in its 33-19 win over Trinity International.
LeFever gained four yards on a drive late in the third quarter. The Trojans (2-1) later scored on the possession, increasing their lead to 33-13.
The sophomore has five yards on four carries this season.
Derek Wanner
South Adams – 2015
Also played for the Taylor University football team in its win over Trinity International.
The junior defensive back had one tackle and broke up one pass. He prevented a completion on a TU drive in the fourth
Wanner has two tackles in three starts this year.
Cassidy Rammel
Fort Recovery – 2015
Helped the University of Saint Francis volleyball team win three consecutive Crossroads League contests.
The junior had a match-high 16 kills in a 3-1 win Wednesday over Huntington University, the first home win of the season for the Cougars (6-13, 5-4 CL). She added 13 digs, two aces and a pair of blocks.
Rammel shared the team-high of 11 kills with a dozen digs, two
Kendra Siefring
Fort Recovery – 2016
Also contributed to the recent success of the University of Saint Francis volleyball team.
She was third on the team with 10 kills and had a team-best five blocks in the Wednesday win over Huntington.
Siefring had nine kills and four blocks Saturday against Bethel College after tallying nine kills with three digs on Friday.
Ava Kunkler
Jay County – 2016
Ranked near the top in kills and blocks for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team recently.
Her nine kills on Wednesday were fourth on the team, and she finished second with four blocks against Huntington.
On Saturday, she shared the team-high of 11 kills with Rammel, while adding four digs and a block. Kunkler recorded seven kills and two digs on Friday.
Kirsten Jutte
Fort Recovery – 2016
Played for the Capital University volleyball team as it went 1-3 in the Heartland College Athletic Conference/Ohio Athletic Conference crossover tournament on Friday and Saturday.
She had one kill in a 3-0 loss on Friday to Hanover College, then added one dig on Friday in a 3-2 loss to Mount St. Joseph.
The sophomore notched five kills, two blocks, one assist and a dig Saturday as the Crusaders (8-9) defeated Bluffton 3-2. Jutte tallied six kills, a pair of blocks and one dig in a 3-1 loss to Defiance.
Abby Barcus
Jay County – 2017
Was second in kills for the Wright State volleyball team in its Horizon League opener on Friday at IUPUI.
Her 10 kills were second on the team, and she also had five digs, one assist and a block as the Raiders lost, 3-2.
She added eight kills, four digs, one assist and a block as Wright State (6-9, 0-2 HL) lost to the Northern Kentucky Norse, 3-2.
Barcus has 144 kills on the season, which is second on the team behind Katie Klusman’s 192.
