MONROE — The Starfires made easy work of their county rivals.

South Adams High School’s volleyball team closed out its regular season Allen County Athletic Conference schedule Thursday with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-8 victory over the Adams Central Flying Jets.

South Adams (16-7, 4-2 ACAC) finished third in the conference and will be the third seed for the tournament, which begins Tuesday at Heritage.

Madi Wurster and Addie Wanner again paced the Starfires with 13 and 11 kills respectively. Wurster also had a team-best 10 digs and six blocks, and Wanner had four digs. Jade Farlow was third on the team with nine kills to go with her two blocks.

Shania Neal totaled seven digs, as Hannah Dull and Isabella Bailey both totaled six digs. Julia Grabau recorded three assists and a pair of aces.

South Adams’ junior varsity team lost to the Jets, 25-17, 17-25, 15-7.

Jade Baker led SAHS with four kills. Gabriella Bailey notched three kills while Hannah Beitler, Kylee Bixler and Josie Grabau all had two kills. Grabau notched 13 assists and five digs, both team highs.



Tribe second in MAC

ROCKFORD, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s volleyball team stayed in second place in the Midwest Athletic Conference with a 25-22, 25-11, 25-13 win on Thursday over the host Parkway Panthers.

The Indians (13-2, 4-2 MAC) are behind Coldwater, New Bremen, St. Henry and Versailles, all of which are tied at 5-1 in MAC play.

Carley Stone led a balanced offensive attack for the Indians by totaling 10 kills. Brooke Gaerke, Cassy Martin and Paige Jutte all had eight kills.

Gaerke tallied three blocks and Martin chipped in with three. Alexis Bubp and Hannah Knapke both had 10 digs to lead the team, and Madi Rammel racked up 29 assists.

The Tribe’s junior varsity team won 25-18, 25-11.

Chloe Showalter led the way with eight kills and Olivia Patch notched six kills. Rachel Acheson had a team-best 12 assists and eight digs.



Stars fall again

MARION — The South Adams boys soccer team is still searching for its first win of the season after a 5-0 loss Thursday to the host Eastbrook Panthers.

The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 advantage over the Starfires (0-11-2), which only had one shot on goal in the opening 40 minutes.

After the intermission, Eastbrook tacked on two more goals.

SAHS goalkeeper Lars In’t Groen finished with seven saves, and Logan Franks had two stops.

The Starfires close the regular season on Saturday at Manchester.



SA drops finale

BERNE — South Adams’ girls soccer team dropped its home finale on Thursday with a 7-4 loss to the Eastbrook Panthers.

Lexi Dellinger scored two goals, pushing her total to 29 for her senior campaign. She also had an assist, her eighth of the year.

Kayla LeFever notched her 12th goal, and Madi Smith found the back of the net for the eighth time this season.

Jenna Myers made 20 saves in goal, and Kelsa Ortiz had three stops.

South Adams closes the regular season at 10 a.m. Saturday on the road at Manchester.
