NOTICE OF
PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Board of School Trustees of The Jay School Corporation (the "Board" and the "School Corporation," respectively) will hold a public hearing in accordance with Indiana Code 20-47-3-10 at the Jay School Corporation’s Administrative Service Center at 1976 W. Tyson Road, Portland, Indiana, on May 7, 2018 at 7:00 a.m. (E.S.T.) regarding a proposed lease (the “Lease”) to finance the acquisition cost of East Elementary School and various proposed improvements thereto, as well as parking lot repairs at General Shanks Elementary, including the following: 1) expand and improve parking lots to accommodate increased parent, patron and bus traffic at both sites; 2) provide for floor to ceiling walls at East Elementary and the commensurate HVAC, electric and controls to affect these modifications; 3) address improved security at both sites; 4) replace or expand necessary plumbing in restrooms and sinks at East Elementary; and 5) complete necessary maintenance and upgrades in a manner that will continue to provide the students an environment that is conducive to learning (the “Project”). The Project is to be constructed by the Building Corporation of Jay Schools (the “Building Corporation”) and leased to the School Corporation. The proposed Lease would require a maximum annual lease rental rate of Nine Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars ($980,000) over a maximum term of Sixteen (16) years, payable on June 30 and December 31 of each year during the term of the lease, commencing with the completion of the Project or June 30, 2019, whichever is later. The proposed Lease, drawings, plans, specifications, and estimates for the Project are available for inspection at the office of the Superintendent for the School Corporation. At this hearing, interested parties may present testimony and questions concerning the necessity of the proposed Lease and whether the proposed terms are fair and reasonable, and the Board will hear and discuss such questions, objections, and support.
