The Fort Wayne TinCaps allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning in a 3-2 loss to the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians) on Thursday at Captains Park in the season opener for both teams.
In the ninth inning, the?Captains (1-0)?drew three walks, got walked intentionally once and received help from a wild pitch before a game-winning single to complete the rally and beat the TinCaps (0-1)?in the first of a two-game series in Eastlake, Ohio.
Notes: Fort Wayne starter Nick?Margeviciu, a Cleveland-area native, struck out nine while allowing one hit in 5 2/3 innings in front of dozens of famiy and friends ... The TinCaps scored once in the fourth inning and again in the top of the ninth before the Captains’ rally ... Fort Wayne’s Justin Lopez, the youngest player in the Midwest League at just 17 years old, and teammate Jeisson Rosario both had two hits for the TinCaps. Esteury Ruiz chipped in with a double.
