Clyde Gilbert
March 22, 1928-April 15, 2018
Clyde Gilbert, age 90, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at his home.
Clyde was born on March 22, 1928, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, the son of Elijah and Vicie Ann (Fields) Gilbert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the VFW Post #6515 in Fort Recovery. He retired in 1990 from New Idea in Coldwater after 37 years of service. Clyde attended Bellefountain United Methodist Church. He married Barbara Coulson on April 14, 1956.

His wife of 62 years — Barbara Gilbert, rural Portland, Indiana
Four sons — Rex Gilbert (wife: Mary), Wapakoneta, Ohio, Max Gilbert (wife: Ruth), Fort Recovery, Ohio, Clyde Eric Gilbert, Portland, Indiana, and Todd Gilbert (wife: Cindy), Tilton, New Hampshire
Three daughters — Tracy Teeter, Portland, Indiana, Holly Sullivan (husband: Joe), Portland, Indiana, and Penny Martin (husband: Tom), Portland, Indiana
Twenty grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Jo Gilbert, and a son-in-law, Noah Teeter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The American Legion Post #211 will conduct military rites.
Memorials may be directed towards the Bellefountain United Methodist Church.
