Imogene Cowan, 89, rural Portland in Pike Township, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at CrownPointe in Portland.
Imogene was born on Oct. 8, 1928, in Adair County, Kentucky, the daughter of Walter and Myra (Elmore) Cowan. She attended Collett Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, cross stitching and making quilts. She married James Cowan in 1944, and he passed away in 1993.
Survivors include:
Three sons — William Cowan (wife: Pat), Portland, Phillip Cowan (wife: Rhonda), Portland, and Greg Cowan (wife: Patti), St. Petersburg, Florida
Six daughters — Sue Clifton (husband: Bob), Bluffton, Libby Fields (deceased husband: Robert), Muncie, Frankie Kunkle (husband: Dick), Portland, Sharon Stout (husband: Dean), Fort Wayne, Robin Alberson (husband: Jeff), Portland, and Tammy Horn (husband: Jeff), Portland
Four sisters — Rosa Denton, Marietta, Indiana, Geneva Bolin, Buffalo, Kentucky, Alberta Bailey (husband: Vitis), Columbia, Kentucky, and Alene Burton, Franklin, Indiana
Nineteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jewell Sigler, and a granddaughter, Lisa Gannon.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Billy Stanton will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery, Portland.
