Jean Manor

Jean Manor, age 82, a resident of rural Portland in Madison Township, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at her home.
Jean was born on Sept. 17, 1935, in Madison Township, Jay County, the daughter of Marion and Dora “Cassie” (Mote) Whitacre. She graduated from Madison Township High School in 1953. Jean worked for Jay Garment in Portland for several years and was manager of Manor Monuments in Salamonia where she helped families with monument selection for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Salamonia. Jean married Robert T. Manor on Feb. 6, 2002, and he passed away on Sept. 26, 2008.
Survivors include:
One step-son — Robert Manor II (wife: Deborah), Salamonia, Indiana
Two step-daughters — Nyoka “Nicki” Johnson (husband: Larry), Muncie, Indiana, and Melanie (Manor) Alt, rural Portland, Indiana
One sister — Wavalene Evans (husband: Roma), Geneva, Indiana
Twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Whitacre Manor, and a brother, Marvin Whitacre.
Private graveside services will be held in Salamonia Cemetery.
